Washington SmartCEO/Grant Thornton, LLP Announce Fast Growth Companies
SILVER SPRING, MD - January 1, 2007 - What makes a Future 50 winner? The key word is growth. Washington SmartCEO Magazine/Grant Thornton, LLP announces the publication's second annual Future 50 winners, set to debut in the January 2007 issue.
The Future 50 program recognizes the 50 fastest growing companies in the Greater Washington area based on employee and revenue growth. This year's Future 50 winners employ 11,913 people and bring in more than $2 billion in revenues.
The largest percentage of winners came from the thriving technology sector of the Washington, DC market. In addition to the Future 50 winners, Washington SmartCEO/Grant Thornton, LLP is also recognizing the Five on Fire. These five companies represent key industry segments within the market and were the next five non-tech emerging growth companies in the Future 50 rankings.
Each Future 50 winner receives a half page write up in the magazine that includes answers to a questionnaire formulated by Washington SmartCEO's editorial staff. Among the Future 50 winners are companies who have won for the second year in a row, and some for the first time. Proteus Technologies and Plan B Technologies are second year alums, and companies like Abraxas Corporation and SPADAC are first year winners.
Nominations for Future 50 closed mid-October with over 100 nominations submitted, up 30 percent from 2005.
Associate Publisher, Jaime Nespor says, "The Future 50 program is SmartCEO's way of celebrating growth and in this issue the Future 50 CEO's will share their fast growth secrets with our 18,000 C-level readers. We follow up this Flagship issue with a sport's themed Future 50 awards ceremony that is truly one of a kind. It is SmartCEO's largest event of the year!"
Winners will be recognized at the Future 50 event, scheduled for January 25, 2007 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott from 6:30-10p.m. To register for this event, contact Samantha Belin at 301-585-3322, ext. 23 or .
Washington SmartCEO Magazine is a regional "growing company" publication. We are not news; we are a resource full of smart ideas to help educate, motivate and inspire decision-makers. SmartCEO is read by more than 34,000 business owners in Baltimore and Washington. Each issue contains features, interviews, case studies, columns and other departments designed to help this region's CEOs face the daily challenges of running a business.
SmartCEO believes that a "growing company" is really determined by the spirit, drive and dynamics of a company's owners and managers, rather than by the size of its building, the number of its employees, or its sales volume. That's why our focus is on decision makers from many different-sized businesses. Each month, a variety of businesses in the Greater Baltimore and Greater Washington areas turn to our pages for features, case-study advice and trend analysis, all with a uniquely local flavor. These readers range from younger, dynamic companies, to established multi-generational, family-owned firms. Many of our readers are also involved in companies that are emerging or going public.
